Lay Worship Volunteers Currently, all our Lay Worship Volunteers are on a four-week cycle: Eucharistic Ministers, Readers, Ushers, Altar Guild and Hospitality. If someone has to be gone, the volunteers are very good at arranging their replacement in advance.
After trying Children's Church at many different times, it is currently scheduled from 10:30 a.m. (the same time as our second Sunday Service) to about 11:15 a.m. The kids in Children's Church and the Nursery are then brought into the worship service during the announcements to sit with and take communion with their families. Because of this peculiar scheduling, the children are in Children's Church during the Liturgy of the Word and are not available to serve as acolytes. Our Eucharistic Ministers serve as adult acolytes.
Altar Guild One of the important worship ministries at Holy Trinity, currently led by Mrs. Denise Cluelow, is the Altar Guild. Sixteen men and women of the parish give of their time and efforts to make sure that worship on Sundays, during Holy Days, at Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals, are to the highest standards to honor our Lord's worship. Working in 4 teams, the schedule week begins on Saturdays and ends on Fridays. The Altar Guild has been blessed with abundance. In addition to good supplies of altar linens, Holy Trinity has been gifted with white, green, purple, blue, and rose altar paraments and also a separate set for Christmas. In addition, the Altar Guild is well provided for in silver and brass worship vessels.
Holy Trinity Brethren Several years ago, one of Holy Trinity's men was invited by a friend to attend a weekend A.C.T.S. retreat sponsored by parishes in the local Roman Catholic diocese. This parishioner saw something at this retreat that he wanted to share with the other men at Holy Trinity. This renewal event became the spark for the formation of a men's group called Holy Trinity Brethren. HTB meets the third Wednesday evening of the month for food, fellowship and sharing. Sometimes, they meet just to be with each other. At other times, the men meet to take on a parish or outreach project or to share a study together. All men are invited and no one goes away hungry!
The Daughters of the King Holy Trinity's Phoebe Chapter of the Daughters of the King meets the second Thursday of each month. A lay order purposed with prayer, the DOK members meet to update their prayer lists. In addition to this, the DOK has taken on the important ministry of sending birthday and anniversary cards to members of the parish. For the past few years, the Daughters of the King collected various items from the parish to combine together in care-bags for the homeless. This ministry is well supported by the parish and the DOK is able to distribute about 250 bags each year.
Angel Tree Holy Trinity teams up every year with Prison Fellowship to participate in the Angel Tree program. This is not a Christmas gift program. This is a program to help build relationships between parents in prison and their children who are trying to live a normal life without them. The Angel Tree program lets the children know that they are not forgotten and that their parents do love them. Holy Trinity collects the gifts and delivers the gifts in Jefferson County. Prisons are a big part of Jefferson County life. Our participation in Angel Tree is a way to minister to this segment of the Jefferson County population.
Camp Good News Holy Trinity, for the past 10 years, has been an active supporter of Camp Good News, a Texas Christiam summer camp for the children of offenders. It is offered at Camp Allen near Navasota Texas every June. The camp is free to children aged 10-15. Holy Trinity supports this ministry through direct solicitation of funds and through the profits from the annual Super Bowl Weekend Chili Dinner Sales.
